                  Announcements.

The Digital Showcase at Shipley College will be held on the 5th of June 2013 from these times ( 2.00 pm - 6.00 pm ) , ( 3.00 pm - 7.00 pm) .

From left, there’s the park’s gazebo, Half Moon Cafe (with the statue of Titus Salt standing over it, back turned!), the Boathouse Inn across the other side of the Aire, and finally the Park Lodge.

We made our way to the first location which was the Cricket Pavilion which had an interesting story about a man who had his very first cricket match.

Then we made our way to the River aire where people used to congregate and relax on a beautiful sunny day . A bonus for the workers was the fact that they could court each other whilst they enjoy their days off from working at the mills. Another interesting story about the boathouse was the fact that it had flooded up to the wall twelve years ago.

The boathouse was built in 1871 and Robert’s park opened in July 1871 along with the cricket pavilion. From what I can see history is going to repeat itself.  .Then we moved along to a bridge which had been removed in the 1960s.

Then we moved onto the next point which was a bridge which was used to allow tanks to access the area in World War 2.

All of this land belongs to Sir Titus Salt and his family as he bought it in the late eighteenth century .The Higher coach road estates were built in the 1950s by Shipley district Bradford council on Baildon land.

But all of this land belonged to Sir Titus salt until the start of the Second World War. We were also informed about a pipeline which was located closeby.

Then we heard another story about the river which was used for a specific purpose this pipeline had stored all of the waste / alluvial soil which would be released into the river. People were allowed to bathe and swim in this river. This was located near one part of the land where people were allowed to grow fruit, vegetables and breed animals.  A famous saying was SURVIVE, ADAPT, AND ENDURE.
